📱 1. Overview

GeoRemind is a location-based reminder application that helps you remember tasks when you arrive at or leave specific locations. Your privacy is our top priority.

                🔒 Our Commitment: GeoRemind is designed with a privacy-first
                    approach. All your data stays on YOUR device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of
                your personal information on external servers.

                📍 Important: Location data is used ONLY to trigger your reminders. We do not track
                your movements or build a location history.
            

💾 3. How Your Data is Stored

All your data is stored locally on your device using secure Android storage mechanisms:

SQLite Database: Reminders and favourites are stored in an encrypted local database
SharedPreferences: App settings and preferences
No Cloud Storage: Data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it

                ⚠️ Note: If you uninstall the app, all local data will be deleted. Use the backup
                feature to save your reminders before uninstalling.
            

📦 4. Backup & Restore

GeoRemind provides a local backup feature that allows you to export and import your reminders:

PIN Protection: Backups are protected with a 4-digit PIN that you choose
File Format: Backup files (.grb) contain your reminder data in JSON format with a PIN hash for verification
Your Control: Backup files are saved to a location YOU choose on your device
Portability: You can transfer backup files between devices

                🔑 PIN Security: Your PIN is hashed using SHA-256. The actual PIN is never stored –
                only its hash is saved in the backup file header for verification.
            

🔐 5. Permissions We Request

Permission	Why We Need It
Location (Always)	To trigger reminders when you arrive at or leave locations, even when the app is in the background
Notifications	To show reminder alerts when you reach your destination
Storage	To save and load backup files from your device
Vibration	For haptic feedback on reminder alerts

🛡️ 7. Security

We take multiple measures to protect your data:

Local Storage Only: No data transmission means no network vulnerabilities
Android Security: Data is protected by Android’s app sandboxing
PIN-Protected Backups: Backup files require the correct PIN to restore
No Third-Party SDKs: We don’t use advertising or analytics SDKs that could access your data

⚖️ 8. Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Access: All your data is visible directly in the app
Export: You can export all your data using the backup feature
Delete: You can delete individual reminders or uninstall the app to remove all data
Modify: You can edit any reminder at any time

👶 9. Children’s Privacy

GeoRemind does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the app stores all data locally and does not transmit any information, it is safe for users of all ages.

📝 10. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will:

Update the “Effective Date” at the top
Notify users through the app’s changelog
Post the updated policy here
